Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a complete Enterprise System for Small to Medium Sized Business.  This post will help you understand some of the manufacturing capabilities and features in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Production Bill of Materials allows your manufacturing company to create BOM’s (Bill of Materials) and calculate standard cost.  This is a key feature for configuration of all other Manufacturing Granules.manufacturing ERP software,

Another key feature the ability to post consumption and output to the Production Orders.  After you have created a production order, you can calculate net requirements based on that production order.  Production orders include a manual supply planning tool as an alternative to automatic planning.  The Order Planning window provides the visibility and tools  you need to manually plan for demand from sales lines and then to create different types of supply orders directly.

Importantly with Manufacturing is Supply Planning in which your company can plan materials requirements based on demand with support for master production scheduling and materials requirements planning.

Also, with Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP you can extend manufacturing capabilities to add capacities (work centers) to the manufacturing process through Capacity Planning.  This is accomplished through setting up routings and using these routings on production orders and in material requirements planning.  Also, view loads and the task list for the capacities.

Furthermore, capacity planning includes a Finite Loading feature in which you can manage loading of capacity-constraint resources.  Finite Loading takes capacity constraints into account so that no more work is assigned to a work center than the capacities can be expected to execute during a given time period.  In NAV, this is a simple tool without any optimization.  Used with the Order Promising granule, Finite Loading also enables the system to calculate Capable-to-promise (CTP)
